What if America has a Syrian type uprising; what will our government do?

The world is in revolt. The people of countries on every continent are rioting and demanding that their elected governments do as they demand. And they are in the right. A government, a country, is composed of its people, not a group of politicians who achieve power and attempt to rule the electorate. A country is not a land mass; it is flesh and blood.

Just this week, there are riots in Caracas, Bangkok, and Kiev. In the recent past they existed in Istanbul, and Cairo.  They are all for the same reason. Their governments failed them and attempted to put into place their own agenda instead of that of the people. The trick is to accomplish what the people did in Egypt -- get the military on the side of the people and denounce the government.

People all over the world are fed up with governments that do not meet the needs and demands of their people.  Unemployment, lower living standards, corruption, and poverty are unacceptable, while those they elect live a life of luxury. In addition, women are no longer willing to accept the position of being third-class citizens.

What does it all mean? Hopefully a change in the status quo.

Countries are the people. Countries are not the government or the land. They are not a religion or a political belief.  Countries are people, and the people are beginning to rise against the tyranny of bad government.

What does that mean for the United States? It's a question that we can't answer right now, because o ur government keeps us divided. FOX News, MSNBC, and many other politically motivated media have convinced the weak-minded that liberals are bad, conservatives are bad, depending on which mind control network you listen to. The fact is that both parties have sold the American people a belief that is not real.

All Americans want the same thing. We want a decent life; safety and security for our families; we want all Americans to have the opportunity our forefathers dreamed of when they founded the United States; a better life for our children and grandchildren; and a country which will live up to the dreams of our first leaders.

Political parties have convinced the uninformed that if someone doesn't agree with you, they are the enemy. The reality is that we have a common enemy -- our government.

The term "United States of America" does not exist. The political parties have intentionally created the "Divided States of America." They know that if we do not unite, they have conquered us.

As long as they continue to create mistrust and division between the American people, they will continue to flourish.  They and their rich friends will continue to gain political and monetary power over the people of our country.

Who fights the wars? Who pays for the way of life of the one percent? Whose lives have become less important and less enjoyable in the last 15 years? We all can answer those questions, but to do so means we must cease our rigid alignment with one party, one false ideal.

I am a firm believer that our citizenry, as those of other countries, will rise up and demand that our government adhere to the wishes and demands of its people. I just hope it happens in my lifetime. We need a second revolution.

Forced to retire in 2008, I turned to my passion, writing. I published my first novel, "A Little Murder in the Biggest Little City" in October, 2012. I answered an ad for an articles writer, shortly after that, and wrote hundreds of articles for (more...)
