President Donald Trump has become America's Pied Piper and Grim Reaper. By refusing multiple public warnings to prepare for a coronavirus pandemic, his delay cost thousands of lives (about 36,000 weak people by the scythe of coronavirus.) His refusal to act was an example of the Republican policy called austerity.
Under austerity, Republican budget policy makers threaten continuously to cut social programs for Americans: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, public health, and so on. Here's the rhetoric from Reagan to McConnell: "No, we won't spend to prepare for this, because nothing bad will happen. Preparation would waste money."
I condemn such austerity. It is rotten neglect of "We, the People." It's betrayal. Trump gave responsibility to governors for shutdowns. But since then, seeking votes, he has criticized their quarantines. He decided, against public health advice, that it was time to "open up America" again. That's when he took ownership of the scythe of coronavirus.
Now he's asking you to go to his rallies and conventions. Unmasked, I suspect. Speaking in front of a big crowd makes an impressive photo-op. Does he really still have a big base, or is that impression just cast by him through the media to try to sustain election motivation?
Republicans can go, but remember, he's asking you, for his photo-op, like General Milley, to take a higher risk of COVID-19 than staying at home. Hold your head up! Forget that he's swinging the scythe! Or boycott his rallies and convention.
Trump knows he will go to jail if he doesn't win the 2020 election. There must be a way to get the House and Senate to remove him and Barr from adjudication of the 2020 election before it happens!
