GA Legislator: Drug Test Legislators As Well As Unemployed and Poor

If the unemployed and poor are to be drug tested, why not drug test legislators as well? That's the idea of Georgia Democratic legislator Scott Holcomb, according to an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, State lawmakers should be drug-tested . 

The article reported, 

The bill came in response to one filed last month by Republicans, who want the state to drug-test parents who apply for federal financial assistance. Holcomb, who represents parts of north  DeKalb County , tweeted that "if required for the poor, we [lawmakers] need to do it, too."

This kind of legislation is happening across the US and even at the level of the US congress. It's a great idea that members of congress ALL be tested regularly for all substances that are illegal. And since they maintain the laws that put people in prison for victimless crimes, maybe the law should automatically put all elected officials in jail, if they test positive. 

They might start re-thinking some of the drug laws then.
