Functional, Linguistic Disability And Open-Mic Dysfunctional Disease

There is no doubt that our past presidents, ... in pre-television days, had better vocabularies than contestants do today. Of course, Bill Clinton was an exception, while George W. and McCain are exemplary candidates of the observation. Back in John Adams and Abe Lincoln days, to win the presidency, candidates had to be able to give speeches. Today, it is sound and video-bites that win an elections. We have a president and a Republican candidate who are examples of "Functional, Linguistic Disability AND Open-Mic Dysfunctional Disease."

McCain has a serious case of "OPMDD,' which can be verified in his last open-mic efforts. McCain sounded good, but his substance was asinine. Though McCain faked his knowledge of "The Surge," he had no idea of the specifics of the campaign. His dates were wrong, a huge mistake, and examples of the outcomes were wrong as well. CNN had to cover up his mistakes, and going back through his other open mic experiences, misstatements are the norm for McCain and not, non-sustaining accidents. McCain needs huge rubber bands that continually pull him back to the teleprompter to keep him from uttering verbal nonsense by forcing him to read his speeches. Alzheimers? I think not, but if we expect more from McCain, it won't happen in his lifetime. On the other hand, Bush Linguistic Disability is so common that we expect it.

"They (Taliban) have no disregard for human life." Read that again. The sentence was uttered by George W. during the last press-conference. With winks and smirks, Bush thought he had the upper hand during the conference, and the sad thing is, our press aloud "allowed" the lame-duck president to get by with the misstatement.

Let's look at the statement. "no-disregard" is actually a double negative and, though they sound good, the two syllables together mean just the opposite what the speaker wants to say. Having "no disregard," actually means having regard. Thus, what "W' said, was that the Taliban has regard for human life - something far from the truth. So, while Bush and was smirking and winking his way the press conference, his speech was anything but exemplary.

200,000 Germans showed up to hear a no teleprompter speech from Obama and that is just what they got. The United States deserves the same in a president. We have had 8 years of linguistic fuzziness and we don't need another 8 years of the same with McCain.
