Today I went out to Incopah with Gary Woodings (pictured) and others where he treated us all to a powerful demonstration of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Most notably, I filmed a session with Steve Robinson, a US Navy veteran who recalled horror stories of Viet Nam. With Gary's facilitation, Steve discharged the emotional trauma and became able to comfortably discuss what had haunted him for decades. The video will be available here in the near future.

EFT is "energy psychology," an alternative to traditional talk therapies that involves finger tapping on acupuncture points while repeating short phrases associated with emotional or physical pain. See this previous post at Manifest Positivity for a video specifically showing the benefits of EFT for veterans with PTSD. Incopah, based on 22 acres just west of Willow Creek, CA, is creating a retreat to offer adventure therapy and other healing modalities for such vets.

It was a beautiful day out there too. After Steve's session, our group of eight gathered outside for an unfilmed EFT session in which I got to participate. Click here to read about the amazing calmness I experienced following a recent car accident. Despite that, I have had some lingering thoughts and feelings of falling, as if the car had gone off a cliff. The EFT session completely alleviated my discomfort and anxiety.

With the great weather we were also then able to enjoy a fabulous three hour hike in the hills. Here's a special shout out to Nick, an HSU journalism student visiting Incopah this weekend to prepare for his own video shoot there next weekend for a school project. Nick's video will also appear here in the future and hopefully we'll see his additional media creations as part of the Manifest Positivity advocacy journalism collective.
