Dweetering on the Edge

I love Twitter.  Tweets are fun, especially when NeoCon politicans who are still trying to grasp "The Google on the Internets" try their hand at social networking. The results are hilarious and revealing.  And -- best of all -- hard to retract.

Take ol' Newt Gingrich, for example, who on May 27th Tweeted the Limbaughesque accusation that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor was a racist: "White man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw. Latina woman racist should also withdraw."

The former House Speaker took some heat for that, and must still feel a nasty grudge against the social network because -- in an exercise in total stupidity -- is suing Twitter. Former Michigan Republican Party Chair Saul Anuzisis is joining in the suit, which is aimed at preventing a pro-Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), another Twitter group, from using his and Gingrich's  names in their Tweets.

Still following?  Raisin Brain would've given up by now. I bet Pickles is still trying to get the eraser marks off his laptop screen.

The Hill explains the ridiculous suit this way:

"Twitter allows users to tag messages with the @ symbol followed by another account name, associating the message with the other account and subsequently reaching subscribers to the other account's news feed.  In linking to feeds controlled by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), who boasts more than 238,000 followers, and former Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis, who has 8,000 followers of his own, the pro-EFCA group's message reached those who follow two anti-EFCA activists. The misleading campaign first showed up on Saturday, when EFCA Now posted to its Twitter account: Join @newtgingrich @sanuzis in signing the EFCA Freedom Not Fear petition.  Basically, in Gingrich's opinion, the inclusion of his Twitter handle in these posts essentially misrepresent his position on EFCA. "

Suing over the @ sign.  Doesn't Newt have anything better to do?  Shouldn't he focus on his fight against Paganism in America?

Even more amusing, Sen. Charles Grassley (R/IA) has taken up Tweeting, with inane, nonsensical attacks against President Obama.  According to Think Progress, on June 4 Grassley Tweeted: "Pres Obama while u sightseeing in Paris u said 'time to delivr on healthcare' When you are a "hammer" u think evrything is NAIL I'm no NAIL." And this from June 1st: "The prez is meetin w Finance and Help Demo bc doesn't appear they on same page Finance working biparty HELP more partisan. Where Prez land?"

Is this Grassley, or Yoda?  Hey Chuck, I need a Grassley-to-English Dictionary. Any idea where I can get one of those?

Not satisfied with merely incoherent ramblings against Obama, Grassley also posted this about Al Gore: "My carbon footprint is abt 25per cent of Al Gore. I'm greener than Al Gore. Is that enuf?"

Don't Dweet and Dwive, Chuckie.
