Intentional blue population increases in five red states could permanently flip the senate and help close the deal on Presidential electoral college votes.
The question is, what will it take to get activists to move to flippable red states?
I've dug up the results of states where Repubicans won by small amounts.
The five smallest state margins added up to 149,000 votes to win statewide elections--either governor or US senator.
The numbers after each state represent how many votes a statewide senatorial or gubernatorial election was won by in 2018.
South Dakota 12,
Alaska 20,
North Dakota 36,
Iowa 40,
New Hampshire 41,
For a total of 149,000
What if activists from solid blue states could be incentivized to move to these five states? What might it take to incentivize and enable them?
Keep in mind that these would not just be voters. They would be activists who would do get out the vote work to improve turnout and persuade undecided to vote blue. If we assume that each person would help increase turnout by just two or three percent it could make a huge difference, in addition to the actual added blue population.
Let's play with this idea. Start with the 149,000 and add a 10% buffer--to take it up to a rounded 165,000 people.
Let's say they are given $10,000 for moving expenses, and additional money for an annual salary. If we ballpark the cost at $80,000 including health insurance, That comes to $6.6 billion.
