It's been a tough few days for us old guys. A couple of contemporary musician friends of mine Greg Polous, and Ron Witherspoon passed on this week. With the merciless passage of time, you come to realize that life is a temporary assignment and we are not going to be here forever. Ain't none of us getting out of here alive. So I think I'll tell this story
Mickey and Sam were two musicians who were getting up there in age, and had during the last few years after seeing several of their musician friends pass on, wondered to each other was there a heaven or an afterlife and what it would be like.
Sam suggested that they make a pledge that whoever passed first if at all possible, communicate with the other what it is like on the other side.
Sadly enough a few months later Sam had a heart attack after a gig and died. Mickey was really sad and was hoping that Sam would be able to let him know somehow what it's like on the other side, but after not hearing from Sam for several months after his passing Mickey thought well I guess there ain't any heavenly afterlife.
Later that night after Mickey fell asleep, Sam comes to him in a dream and says Mickey, I got good news and bad news. Mickey says tell me the good news first. Sam says man you won't believe it, all the fellas are here and we got first-class accommodations we play all over the universe free food and drinks anything you want you can have and I'm playing in the best band up here. Mickey says that's great what could possibly be the bad news.
Sam looks at him and says Mickey Wednesday you're fronting the band...

My favorite death quote is when it's my time to go I want everyone to know that I felt the same way as Hunter Thompson did and that, "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!-- Hunter S. Thompson,
