Please pay attention! This may be just another conspiracy theory (my own) about desperate republican strategies to save the upcoming election for Trump when his ratings are rapidly falling, but there may more logic behind it than many other conspiracy theories.

Besides their "traditional" strategies of suppressing or discarding votes of the majority opposition, closing down voting locations in key areas where possible, false accusations about liberal candidates, discouraging mail-in ballots by hindering the postal service, side-tracking legislation to remedy voting inequities, etc., we now have the impasse in congress over extending unemployment benefits for the mass of workers during this momentous Covid-19 pandemic - an existential historic event.

The impasse could work in the republican's favor. Aside from blaming the democrats for the ensuing pandemonium of evictions, foreclosures, homelessness and hunger (for which the democrats could equally blame the republicans), the impasse could allow Trump to step in with his supposed executive powers, as he threatens to do, to save the nation and win the election. He could Make America Grate Again!
