it's time the Democrats demand that the Supreme court make an expedited decision on the right of the House of Representatives to subpoena all the people Donald Trump has forbidden from testifying as well as Trump himself. Time is of the essence.
Adam Schiff has given the excuse that it will take to long to get court authorization to bring in the witnesses as the reason to rush to impeachment before Christmas.
I don't understand why the Democratic leadership has not demanded that the Supreme Court expedite a decision on the subpoenas in a big hurry. This is a question that news network pundits have also been raising on shows discussing impeachment.
I don't want to see a full House vote on impeachment until they petition the Supreme Court to make an expedited decision. If the SCOTUS agrees, then the House can resume hearings and get testimony from Trump, McGahn, Bolton, Pompeo, and Giuliani, for starters.
If the Supreme Court does not back up the House of Representatives, then it will be guilty of profoundly limiting the power of the legislative branch. And that will also play a role in the 2020 elections. Either way the Democrats will be in a better place than if they fail to even try.
And yes, this too is political. It's all political-- but also in defense of the constitution. And the Democrats in the House should put the call to have the Supreme Court expedite the decision on the right to subpoena to a vote. Will Republicans sabotage their own branch of government's power? That will also be an issue for voters to consider.
