Troubles here and troubles there and in the Capitol fights
Since big ideas people have on what constitutes their rights,
And not just on their rights but on the wrongs done unto them,
Personal injustice being so amusing to condemn.
To Congress you can send flame mail or get up a petish',
But to a jaded Senate staff it's one more dirty dish.
.
And even if you send a dart, where do you think it best?
Looking over the elected, you realize that you're blessed
With run-amok Republicans, your senator a creep,
If you want to tax the rich, your dart won't make a peep,
Or you write to AOC or one of her sisters Squad,
But they live in another place and will your dart deep sod.
.
So you make a sign about your gripe and to a stick it nail,
And stand with ten simpaticos and passing drivers hail.
The governor might see you there and send a pot of tea,
But don't depend on cookies too, much less a place to pee.
Back home you feel you've wasted time, plus a decent nail,
Nothing's changed, your gripe's red hot, and you still wish to rail.
.
For full-page ads they charge a ton, podcasts reach small aud',
To start a club or lobby pols will cost you a great wad.
Now campaign contributions, yes, they'll open every door,
As long as you give dollars long; pennies they ignore.
Look at the Israelis and how well things go for them,
Their pols eat kosher every day, lest folks say "Ahem."
.
So in your poli-arsenal, you wonder what is left?
Sharp terror has some prospects, for the PR has some heft.
It's cheap and cool and social, it makes your point and then some,
Pull a statue, toss a bomb, or punch a cop quite winsome,
Like the guys in Washington who never found Mike Pence,
All the same they made their point although at some expense.
.
So of such actions we must say the future will be full,
Since other ways of voicing views are so much co*k and bull.
Hence the first priority is creation of new parties,
Absorbing passions left and right, not just of rich farties,
On left, on right, independents too, to broker some new peace,
And give democ' a decent chance and on its life new lease.
