Democrats don't think like Republicans

Senator Oren Hatch made the statement that the Obama election strategy would include a barrage on the religion of Willard Romney.   Republicans think that any, and mean any legislation that restricts the ownership, use, access to anything remotely resembling a weapon of any kind is an assault on the 2nd Amendment and is part of a bigger narrative to take guns away from citizens.   These two observations are much more closely aligned than one might first conclude.

You have to wonder where Hatch came up with this conclusion.   It's rather obvious. He thinks like a Republican.   In the last presidential race they assaulted Obama over his religion.      They made no bones about attacking him on Reverend Wright.   That was the bedrock of Palen's campaign once she decided to go rogue.   When that failed to get sufficient traction they made up a new religion for him. The decided he was a Muslim.     Billy Graham's son even described him as having a Muslim "seed," whatever that means.   That didn't stick.   They then said he wasn't a citizen.   It amazes me how Obama's mother knew to create a fraudulent news announcement of his birth in 1961 so she could use it to help him get elected in 2008.   If that's the case, her maternal instincts are right up there with the Blessed Mother? Who knew?   Republicans will use completely manufactured lies in the campaign and they therefore believe Democrats will too.   Sorry Oren, we don't think like you.

The paranoia of the Republicans relative to the 2nd amendment is a direct correlation to Roe V. Wade.   Judge Alito has stated the plan is not to overturn Roe v. Wade, the plan is to emasculate it.   Whittle it away until there is nothing left of it.   Defund any organization that provides abortion as an option in its counseling.   Redefine rape so that the definition is such that the woman will have to drive the rapist to the police station during the incident to be able to actually call it rape, and then the rapist has to admit that yes she did say no, about 1,000 times!   Humiliate the woman who seeks to make her own decision about the rest of her life with a series of delays, restrictions, and unpleasant visual confrontations to the point that they hopefully shame her out of it.   Making a woman witness an abortion before she has one is the human equivalent of rubbing your pet's nose in the mess it made, hoping to house break it.   The pattern is a planned series of emotional and personal obstacles in the hope of crushing the women's will.   The Right takes this thinking and applies it to the 2nd amendment.   They feel any sensible law to keep guns out the hands of mentally deranged, psychotic maniacs is part of a bigger narrative to come into their homes and take their precious guns.    My suspicion is that late at night many of them massage these cold hard steel shafts in a way that might be viewed as abnormal, but what do I know, I don't have a gun.   The bottom line is we don't think like them.   If you take these two issues, guns and religion and look at the way Republicans think, you can see an Orwellian logic to it.   They try and use religion as a weapon, and their guns are a source of spiritual resolve.   Democrats just don't think like Republicans.
