While we celebrate the ever-growing popularity and acceptance of gay rights and gay marriage, we cannot forget that there are still a whole lot of bigots out there who can't keep their noses out of other people's sex lives and personal relationships. Sadly, not all of them are runner-up beauty pageant contestants. Many of them are parents who claim to be Christians and are raising their children in this ugly veil of intolerance. Worse, they justify their hatred by the BIBLE.

Case in point, the cute little children's book: "Girls Marry Boys: A Little Story About a Biblical Truth" by Benjamin Olive, who explains why he wrote this particular book...

My daughter was nine years old when she asked me what the word "gay" meant. Nine. Homosexuality is a tough topic for young minds. And thanks to the media and the entertainment industry, parents are now being forced to address this subject with their children much earlier than they would like. "Girls Marry Boys" was created specifically for the Christian pre-teen. Through fun cartoon illustrations and poignant short sentences, this lighthearted story provides a Bible-based lesson about same-sex relationships versus God's plan for men and women. It's important that our children understand the Scriptural truth -- so that they are equipped to avert the modern falsehoods that are surely headed their way.

Let's take peek inside, shall we? (Since we know how much the Benjamin Olive types are fond of peeking.) Here's a synopsis from the book cover:

One day, little Millie decides she wants to be married. In this child's quest for a suitable companion, she searches the house and comes up with some pretty bizarre prospects: her diary, a yo-yo and even the family dog. Finally, Millie suggests marrying her neighbor and best friend, Angie. This leads to a fairly light, but frank family discussion about homosexuality, the gay agenda and the Sacrament of marriage. Millie eventually arrives at a better understanding of it all -- but only after one last attempt at finding a suitor.

The family dog. A yo-yo. Mr. Olive equates same-sex marriage with marrying a plastic toy or an animal. Nice. Hey, Benny -- who did Jesus hate, exactly? Was it just homosexuals? Try as I might I just can never find that part of the New Testament where Jesus talks about all the different groups you're supposed to hate. Sure makes it hard for us non-believers to figure out you "Christians." Maybe if I sent you a Bible and a marker you could highlight that part for me?

In your next book, maybe have little Millie go to Catholic School where she becomes even more confused after a private tutoring session with "Father Simon?" I know! Let's have a series of "Millie" books and a quest to find a perfect mate. After graduation, let's say she's awarded a "Religious Studies" scholarship to Oral Roberts University where her moral values are further molded, shaped, and perfected.

Hypocrites.
