Darryl D'Souzza by Darryl D'Souzza

How often in our modern world do we find a person willing to author a book and then give it away for free? Darryl D'Souza is such a person. Darryl is a teacher of natural therapies and is also the author of a book BECOME HEALTHY OR... EXTINCT! that is available as a free download on his website which is listed below.

What a choice we have to make! According to Darryl, the past hundred years has shown an increase in medicines that were invented by humankind. During this same time period, the number of maladies has increased with it. Could it be that our "progress" is spelling our "doom" rather than our evolution?

Darryl does not segregate human health from the health of the planet. Indeed, he states we must develop a symbiotic relationship with Nature if we are going to survive. We are not separate from Nature. We live in a symbiotic relationship with Her. Everything we do to improve our own health and nutrition improves the health of the Earth. A fetus that destroys his mother's body is probably going to lose the chance to be born. In developing health of both people and planet, Darryl states that one of the first issues that need to be confronted is for people to demand safe drinking water. Darryl feels that the fluoride routinely added to drinking water may be dangerous. The opinions differ in this regard. (For more information, pro and con, see links below)

My personal opinion is that humans lived and evolved for several thousand years and did remarkably well without flouride additions. Furthermore, animals in the wild do not partake of fluoride and oftentimes their teeth are fine. If one sticks one's head in a lion's mouth, one probably will not find tooth decay even though he may not brush his teeth with a fluoride type toothpaste. Of course lions are not vain enough to really care if you think they have bad breath. Perhaps bad breath is just a make-up lie designed to get you to buy what you don't need?

Furthermore, I don't think it wise to separate out our medical practice from the larger sphere of corporate enterprise. T he recent oil spill in Arkansas is a case in point. The same mentality that produced this crisis is behind much of the medical establishment, including the establishment of flouride additions. Link to information regarding this oil spill is listed below.

To help us heal, Darryl's basic message entails:

  1. Stop abusing the body with foods that we take in.

  2. Educate yourself about what is good for the body

  3. Start eating, drinking, and breathing the healthy stuff.

  4. Cleanse your system.

  5. Use healing therapies such as acupressure, cleansing, and yoga.

  6. Attend to the health and evolution of your spirit as well as your body.

Darryl believes that no one treatment works by itself. This is a very holistic approach which pits itself up against the standardized medicinal practices of today.

Darryl's holistic approach relates to the Gaia hypothesis that was put forth by James Lovelock. That hypothesis states that it was through intense interactions of all the parts of the planet that led to the evolution of life. For example, the atmosphere is at its current mix because of the interaction of the respiratory habits of animals and plants. Plants tend to breathe out oxygen which we animals breathe in and we breathe out carbon dioxide which the plants breathe in. We are all cells in the lungs of Mother Earth.

Of course, human activity has increased the amount of carbon dioxide which means we may be putting ourselves, and other animals, out of business. Thus, Darryl arrives at the stark choice in the title of his book: healthy or extinct!
