The National League Baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals had barely begun last *Sunday* when families watching America's favorite pastime on TBS were interrupted with a terrifying ad, one making it seem that depraved Democrats were trying to prevent the President of the United States from investigating corruption of Joe Biden by launching an impeachment inquiry. See the ad here:
There is more wrong with this ad than I have time to address, given the fact I am working from a library an hour from my home due to power outages in California. But in truth, the only people who can really counter this ad are the Democratic Presidential candidates. Biden obviously should be defending his own honor, but all the candidates should stand in solidarity and use the law of the land to hit back on this ad, and hit back hard.
Candidates for federal office can claim the Equal Time law to demand that they can purchase an equal amount of time as an opponent's ad, at an equal price, in an equal time slot. (In other words, candidates can demand to have an ad run at approximately the same time of day, which was about 8:15 PM ET, and have it run inside another playoff game to reach the same audience.)
The candidates must demand this time within seven days of the original ad, and must demand it from the broadcaster or cablecaster who ran the ad. So campaigns have through this Sunday to demand EQUAL TIME from TBS and set the record straight.
I have reached out to some campaigns about this, but have received no reply. Let me say this to ALL Democratic candidates: if you do not counter Trumps' media manipulations directly, they will not be countered. Period. It is up to you.
