Republicans are exercising the one power that the American People have not yet been able to take away from them: the power to destroy. Conservatives are "giddy" over shutting down the government. This is who they are.

"We're very excited," said Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn). "It's exactly what we wanted, and we got it."

If you spend some time at the media outlets of the "true conservatives" you will realize that they are "giddy" celebrating the shutdown, and "ideally" want to keep the government shut down "through the 2014 elections" because people in government are "terrified that you might discover you don't need them."

Seriously, this is the stuff they are saying to each other. This shutdown could go on a long time. This is who they are.

Giddy

The Wall Street Journal has the story. "We're pretty much out of options at this point," said Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif), criticizing the faction of the party most unwilling to compromise. "They're all giddy about it. ..."

American Thinker: "House GOP should prepare for a long siege":

"Republicans have called for a House-Senate conference to discuss a compromise -- an unrealistic proposal given that the right flank of the GOP will only vote for delay or defunding Obamacare and Senate Democrats will never agree to either idea. So it appears that stalemate will rule for the foreseeable future."

Grover Norquist wrote at The Huffington Post, "It is unlikely the Republicans would sacrifice their most significant legislative victory at the altar of more spending."

Don't Need Government

Many conservatives are hoping the shutdown will prove to Americans that they don't need government at all. For example, Erick Erickson at RedState:
