Members of Congress
Congress fiddles while Rome America burns !
Another 84,868 homes were lost to foreclosure in October; there have been 936,439 home foreclosures since August 2007 - If there are an average of only 4 members of each of these families, this means 3.75 million Americans were evicted from their homes since last August. 336,000 in October alone. This does not count tenants in foreclosed rental properties also evicted even though they were still paying the rent on time. Those numbers represent enough votes to cast out many members of congress at the next election.
Congress should be ashamed of itself. You say you represent the people? Dare I ask which people?
A small portion of the bail out bill was supposed to protect some of these however, since you let Paulson decide not to buy out any distressed securities this part of the bill would seem to have no way to protect anyone. You saw fit to NOT include even a moratorium on foreclosures but found time to include ear marks for wooden arrows for children, probably now homeless and who can't afford archery any way.
And what about AIG's lavish parties at taxpayer expense? I won't go on about that !
Congress continues to fiddle while our economy burns. The ruin comes to the middle class yet you continue to protect the wealth of the very people who most contributed to this collapse. Again I ask...who do you really represent? The fortune 400 or those millions put out of their homes this past year? Who will wind up owning those foreclosed properties...wealthy vultures who lurk with cash you put in their hands.
Where is the protection for Main Street? Where is legislation to keep people in their homes and to prevent eviction of tenants who are paying their rent on time?
Where is Congress when American citizens need them?

PS: Still waiting to see Carl Rove testify..or have you lost your nerve yet again?

I ask each reader to write a similar letter and fax to your reps or use the Action Form. Don't wait...Christmas is a bad time to evict children from their homes !
