Interview with Election Integrity Activist, Harvey Wasserman
My guest today is author, activist and frequent OpEdNews contributor, Harvey Wasserman. Welcome back to OpEdNews, Harvey.
JB: You recently co-authored with Mimi Kennedy and Bob Fitrakis the sobering piece, AFTER IOWA, CAN BERNIE WIN A "STRIP & FLIP" SELECTION?. What about the Iowa caucuses made you so cynical?
HW: Let's say I was pre-cynical, then unsurprised. The caucuses are a bit more transparent than electronic voting machines, but not all that much. Rumors have flown that the margin for Hillary was created by six coin tosses, all of which she won.
The best part is Trump yelling that Cruz stole it. It doesn't get much better than that.
But now we're going to New Hampshire, where electronic election theft may have been born.
JB: Those weren't just rumors about the coin tosses, actually. You can see for yourself. It's a lousy way to run a caucus, in my opinion. Bernie Sanders started out behind by 40+ percentage points and finished in a dead heat. Why is that not cause for celebration?
HW: It's definitely a victory for Bernie and the reality is that we have a strong core of people in this country who know the system is rigged and are unhappy about it. Bernie has talked about the economic system being rigged but we really need to grasp that the vote count is also rigged.
It's most encouraging that Bernie gets nearly all the youth vote. That means we might have a future....
JB: Speaking of new voters, young voters, what do you make of the apparent "hole" discovered in the Microsoft app that disallows new voters? That's rather a large hole and may affect one candidate over another, no? [click on this link]
HW: There are tons and tons of money at stake so i wouldn't put anything past any of these corporations. This is a wealthy class that is motivated entirely by greed, without a trace of civic virtue or shame.
JB: Scary. Didn't the app go through extensive testing? And that's not even what you're talking about in your piece. What's the Strip & Flip that you refer to?
HW: Not sure what happened to that app. But the public has no real control over the vote count in our own elections. It's all corporate-controlled, which is why we have the government we have.
Strip & Flip is the stripping of the voter rolls, followed by the flipping of the vote count.
