Burma, Myanmar: Convicted Activists Sent to Remote Prison Camps

More than 20 convicted activists have been sent to remote prison camps in this early morning. Some of them are a prominent 88 leaders who were sentenced yesterday to 65 years imprisonment each. According to their family and friends, 88 prominent leaders Min Ko Naing and Ko Ko Gyi were sent to Keng Tung prison(Shan State), Ko Pyone Cho was sent to Kawthuang prison(Tanindaryi Division), Ko Mya Aye was sent to Loi Kaw prison(Kayah State), Ko Htay Kywe was sent to Buthitaung prison(Rakhine State), Aung Naing was sent to Kalay prison(Sagaing Division) Ko Hla Myo Naung was sent to Myitkyina prison (Kachin State), Ko Aung Thu was sent to Putao (Kachin State), Saw Wai, Su Su Nway and eleven other activists were sent to Mandalay prison.

Among them, Ko Hla Myo Naung and Ko Aung Thu have been seriously ill for two weeks. But they were sent to Kachin State without appropriate medical treatment. The areas activists were sent are extremely remote and difficult to reach for their families.
