There has been much discussion here lately about what Bernie should do. Here's my suggestion:
Bernie should go full Independent Populist while still a Democrat. He should contact Elizabeth Warren, Jill Stein, Ralph Nader, Bruce Springsteen, Bill McKibben, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Naomi Klein, Robert Reich, Mark Ruffalo, Susan Sarandon, Spike Lee etc etc etc and have a massive rally.
Quit playing patty-cake with Hillary -- get tough as if the future of the country depended upon it -- it does. Coolly and absolutely honestly and with plenty of proof to back it up -- lay out the case that Hillary and the Democratic establishment have given him no choice but to run as an Independent.
Demand absolutely that Hillary address her speeches to Wall Street. Then render her insignificant because the threat of a Trump presidency is too real and urgent not to. Discontinue running against her and go full bore after Trump.
Ask the people what they want him to do. Immediately start a campaign to get quantifiable feedback from the people.
Get someone of the caliber of Martin Scorsese (The Last Waltz) to video it. Everyone show up with their phones and blanket youtube and instagram with video and stills.
Provoke the powers that be -- give them the rope with which to hang themselves.
The writers at opednews should become receivers and purveyors of information surrounding the event.
Don't wait for Democracy to work -- make it work!
If Bernie truly believes that this place is in jeopardy how can he not pull out all the stops?
You know, there is a song that I have loved for years by Bruce Cockburn titled "Nicaragua." The refrain is achingly fitting now, with a slight change of subject:
