The people of America, particularly the middle class, are under siege from a vicious ongoing attack by a powerful force whose primary objective is to establish an ironclad control over this nation. That relentless force is being driven by the masters of corporatism who are in the process of trying to dismantle the middle class and transform American workers into this nation's equivalent of cheap overseas labor.
This is no myth, not something imagined; this is the reality of the slow bur steady erosion of the middle class by those whose ravenous appetite for profit and personal gain can't be satiated. It can be seen in the massive disparity of wealth and income in America, the futility involved with trying to find a decent job, the increasing difficulty in owning a home and the lowering of our quality of life; things that we used to take for granted. It's happening all around us.
In their quest to maintain an infinite stream of profits, these giant corporations have targeted the American middle class, the foundation of this nation, as the biggest obstacle standing in their way. If these corporations can continue their assault on the middle class to the point that people reach the point of total desperation, and will take any job at any wage, then they will have achieved their primary objective.
Without question the American people and the middle class are in a fight for survival. And right now it's quite evident that they are on the losing end, taking a terrible beating and finding it virtually impossible to fight back. Corporate America seems to possess all the most powerful weapons; it controls Wall Street and it has the undivided loyalty of a large portion of Congress and the Supreme Court.
What's happening is like a horrible nightmare in which a vicious group of predators has been turned loose on the American people. These predators appear to be typical Americans, blending in with the general population by their appearance, the companies for which they work, where they live and even their places of worship. But, beneath the surface, they are a completely different breed of people, possessing minds and consciences that are cold and dark; money, not people, is their chief concern.
I strongly believe that when you get knocked down you must get right back up. But in America today millions of Americans have been knocked down but aren't getting back up; what is really scary is that so many of these Americans just don't seem to have much fight left in them. So many Americans have been victimized and taken advantage of in so many different ways by the masters of deceit and manipulation that inhabit Wall Street and Washington D.C. that they are ready to give up and go down for the count.
Some elements of this society and many individuals, those in the Occupy Movement, have been exemplary in placing themselves on the front lines of activism, sacrificing a great deal of time and effort and putting themselves in harm's way. These modern-day patriots are so dedicated and so energized that they have no fear of being abused by overly aggressive police or being thrown into jail. But they are still relatively few in number and are still being overwhelmed by the massive power of the corporatists. They badly need millions of other Americans to join their cause.
