Attorney General William Barr makes a great Santa Claus. Need proof?
On Friday, the hefty legal heavyweight delivered an early holiday gift-wrapped present to the president.
According to United Patriot News, "Attorney General William P. Barr on Friday vigorously defended President Trump's use of executive authority and suggested that House Democrats were subverting the will of voters by exploring whether to remove the president from office for abusing his power."
The online journal continued dispensing the non-fake variety of news, reporting, "Mr. Trump campaigned on a vow to upend Washington, and voters were aware of his agenda when they elected him president, Mr. Barr said." click here
Of course, the United Patriot News fails to mention that voters also installed a Democratic House of Representatives in 2016. And voters made their intent even more clear two years later by giving the blue team an overwhelming House victory in 2018.
Armed with a gavel and her own brand of voter intent, Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, has dared to suggest that Trump is guilty of bribery in connection with his withholding of almost a half billion dollars of military aid for Ukraine. House investigators are cobbling together information suggesting Trump put the squeeze on the president of Ukraine so the small nation, besieged by Russia, would fabricate dirt on Uncle Joe Biden.
All roads may lead to Putin, as the Speaker has intoned, but Ukraine seems to be the kryptonite that Santa Claus Barr must destroy to protect his beloved powerful leader.
Pelosi, who has no doubt met her share of Santas over the years, blesses the current inquiry without hesitation. It's worth noting, though, that she withheld eggnog for months, telling feisty members of her caucus that the Mueller Report findings on Russia weren't strong enough to commence impeachment hearings. Her reserve tells me she understands the intent of the voters who put the Democrats in charge of the House: Do your homework and build a strong case, but by all means put some checks on our problem president.
United Patriot News, no doubt, will eventually bake a rich holiday cake to describe voter intent. It is true that the Senate is controlled by Republicans, who may come to Trump's emotional rescue if and when the House impeaches him.
We will see. We will also see how voters express their intent in 2020 when candidates for the House and Senate seek our approval.
It is too soon to say whether Trump will call the White House, Mar-a-Lago or Rikers Island home after next year. But if Santa Claus Barr gets his way, Trump may get the third term he hints at in twitter posts. Fortunately, wise Speaker of the House Pelosi stands in Trump's way. Happy Holidays.
