Barack Obama's Vice Presidential Pick: Kathleen Sebelius

How do I know this? I don't. I'm guessing. But here's why I think that's what's going to happen.

First, Barack's campaign has put us on notice that his announcement is imminent. So I took a look at where the likely players are positioned, and the only player out of position is Kathleen Sebelius. Because, on Thursday, August 21, Kathleen Sebelius will be "campaigning" for Barack Obama, in Iowa.

What the heck is Kathleen Sebelius "campaigning" in Iowa for? Last time I heard, she has no influence there. So why is she being tagged to campaign in Iowa? My guess is that she's not going there to campaign, but rather, she's going to Iowa to debut as Barack Obama's vice presidential running mate.

Besides Kathleen Sebelius' unlikely mission in Iowa on Thursday, there's Barack Obama's availability to be there at the same time. Barack's scheduled for Tuesday, and Wednesday. But Barack's not scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2008, and the language saying so is too disarming to be genuine:

Obama's schedule calls for him to awaken on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida, and by the end of the day be in Raleigh, North Carolina. By Wednesday, he is scheduled to be in Virginia. The Obama campaign has cautioned against reading anything into his schedule, saying it could be changed in an instant to accommodate the plan to introduce the running mate.

Remember the symbolism of Barack's first appearance with Hillary Clinton, after he won the Democratic nomination? They appeared together as part of a "Democratic Unity Tour." It took place in New Hampshire, the first state won by Hillary; in a city called Unity, where Hillary and Barack each won 107 votes. Likewise, what more symbolically significant location for establishing the Democratic ticket than coming full circle, back to Iowa, the state that gave Barack his first victory, and the momentum that may have carried him to his party's nomination.

By introducing his vice presidential running mate in Iowa, Barack gets to thank Iowans, while asking them to do it again. He's asking them to once again be first to endorse a historic candidacy. He's asking them to demonstrate support for Kathleen Sebelius becoming the first female vice president of the United States of America.

Hillary Clinton's supporters have been rattling sabers against the idea of a female running mate for Barack Obama, who is not Hillary Clinton. But Kathleen Sebelius is not merely a female running mate, she is the best choice of a running mate for Barack Obama. Uniquely accomplished and poised, Kathleen Sebelius is so similar to Barack's way of being, until they look like the yin, and the yang, of the same idea.

I'm guessing that Barack Obama will select Kathleen Sebelius as his running mate on Thursday, August 21, 2008, and I'm hoping that I'm right about that ""
