I will confess ignorance on matters concerning economics. But what I'd like to know is -- could the bailouts be distracting us from addressing the root cause of our economic woes?
I also don't understand why we won't end up in a depresssion instead of a recession if we continue these illegitimate wars based on lies and aggression.
I don't understand why nobody has stepped forward to sue Bush and Cheney for wrongful death. Why aren't there mass class-action lawsuits? Actually, "Wrongful death" is way too kind in this situation. Let's call it what it is -- deliberate, premeditated murder. Because to plan a war -- wars upon wars -- based on lies does, after all, require just that. Planning. And lying. On purpose.
Then there's the question of who was at the top of the pyramid scheme to undo the mortgage holders and, of course, the banks themselves.
Truly, is anybody telling me that the banks did not deliberately target a cross-sector of our society they knew could not repay the loans? Is anybody telling me that those in business haven't refined and perfected the art of targeting their clientele? Is anybody telling me that somebody at the top didn't know this was going to happen, and that they were counting on Federal bailout money to rescue them? And therefore, the Feds had already promised such money in advance of the dirty deed?
Ahh, therefore, is it not obvious that the Feds have been purposefully trying to create a depression, not just a recession?
Am I wrong folks? I appreciate your expert opinions below -- especially those "in the know" about economics. I'd love to see what you have to say about this.
It all seems pretty deliberate and planned, but of course, I'm not an expert on economics. But, if it turns out that I am right, here is another set of questions:
A) Why are there not more articles about this specific topic, articles exposing the facts? It's likely that opinion articles would be dismissed by the mainstream readership as conspiracy theory, but that facts backed by highly credible sources would carry weight and even open up some eyes. We must not assume that only progressives read Opednews. With politicians posting here, it is possible and even likely that they and their employees read our articles, that readers of all cross-sections both post and read news and opinion about this subject.
B) Why are there not slews of letters to editors about this? We can always appeal to underground news sources, college newsletters, and local papers who DO print such matters. I have had more than 100 letters published, and it's my experience that even the mainstream media prints some controversial things, because the job of letters editors is to represent a wide cross-section of opinions, not merely the newspaper's own. Remind them, remind them, remind them!
C) Why aren't there class-action lawsuits going on? Protests are something I no longer recommend, because under the Patriot Act the police have way too much power. Lawsuits are covered by the media whereas protests of late have not been, especially when counter to the Bush Administration's agenda. Lawsuits are the way to go!
D) Strikes might not be a bad idea either.
E) Let's face it: The Feds, the banks, Haliburton, the Bush Oil Co., and others at the top are stealing our livelihoods from us. Millionaires have lost their millions and have seen their bank accounts reduced to a few thousand dollars. Others have lost their 401k retirement savings. Many economic experts foresee a depression. This is grand theft in action, a crime against Us, the People. And a crime against The People is called "Treason." A betrayal of the public trust, where the word "Treason" is defined by public betrayal.
WAKE UP AMERICA! DON'T JUST SIT THERE WHILE MURDER HAPPENS EN MASSE AND WHILE OUR JOBS, OUR HOMES, EVEN OUR MONEY FOR EATING IS TAKEN AWAY. DO SOMETHING!
Good god! How lame we are. No wonder Europeans are calling Americans "stupid" and are actually coming up with "Dumb Americans" jokes. No kidding. They are and have been, for the past several years.
Let's hold hope in the fact that Obama and his wife are very smart. Maybe they will be able to really bail us out of the upcoming catastrophe. As bought-off as I do believe Obama is, I also don't believe he is evil in his heart or willing to sacrifice lives and livelihoods in order to gain for himself, as Bush and Cheney are.
Please post below about the economic matters and the questions I am asking here. Thank you all.
