As a pro-life advocate, I demand that Rep. Stupak stand down

As a writer who has openly written columns against abortion and have taken flack for it, while I still stand by my pieces, my anger and angst is targeted towards Rep. Bart Stupak.

To Rep. Stupak, you say you are pro-life and to that I add: HAH! When over 45 thousand people die each year due to a lack of health insurance, their lives are over with because of our government's lack of will and courage to save them. They are forever dead!

By holding up this health care reform bill, you are not being true to your pro-life beliefs since people are dying each day. Where are the "Operation Rescues" to save innocent Americans from deaths at the hands of insurance companies? These companies have cut so many off in their time of need as well as hike their rates where they can no longer afford the premiums. These greedy insurance companies who hike their rates are truly the death panels we are all forced to live with.

I hate abortions just as much as you do, Rep. Stupak, but under the Constitution, women have the right to choose whether or not to have one. I am free to council a woman who is pregnant to choose another option such as putting the baby up for adoption, but I know my limits and cannot tell her do not have an abortion.

We say we are a country that believes in freedom and liberty, but those who rage against a woman's right to choose are tossing those tenets out the window.

To those on the hard right namely the "Tea Bag Movement': you say you oppose this bill because of deficits, the cost of our present wars have all but increased it. If some of you on the hard right namely the pro-life movement approve of these wars, you cannot be pro-life and pro-war at the same time.

How many innocent babies were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan? In my opinion, the government is already funding the murder of babies in those countries. In war, these babies are thought of as collateral damage, but to me their deaths are plain murder.

Lastly, as a pro-life advocate, I demand that Rep. Bart Stupak stand down and allow this health care reform bill to pass so that uninsured pregnant women and others have ease of mind.
