Breitbart.com is a well-known online conservative mouthpiece. Sometimes good journalism emerges from its virtual pages. But more often, its writers indulge in disingenuous editorializing.

I ran across an example of this a month ago, soon after the landmark decision to allow same-sex couples to marry. Here is Breitbart writer John Nolte, who-- "by the way"-- also opposes the "Rebel" flag flying over statehouses. Here is Nolte, from his editorial titled "Take Down the Fascist, Anti-Christian Gay-Pride Flag":

"Under the banner of what is dishonestly called a gay pride or gay "rights" flag, hate, fascism, and intolerance has festered for years, specifically against Christians and conservatives. Under the auspices of a "rights and equality" symbol, Leftists have been on a rampage to take way the rights of others through bullying, lies, and online terrorism.

The list of misdeeds and victims resulting from an increasingly emboldened Big Gay Hate Machine continues to grow."

What an absolute stinking pantload of alarmist behavioral modification. It is the Right-- Republican and Democrat-- which has legislated and appropriated trillions of dollars for our military adventures that we call "foreign policy." Gays have absolutely nothing to do with this. There are (at last count) 5 congresspersons who are gay. Do you alarmists really think gays have any part of a chair at the table of political power? Gays are not even as politically potent as unions, which have practically lost all access to the legislative or executive levers of political power.

The authoritarian Right is in complete control at the State and Federal levels. Republicans control 2/3 of State legislative bodies. When they control 3/4 of them, they can call a Constitutional Convention and dictate to everyone. Depending on what Supreme Court Justices die, Republicans and their radical-conservative Democratic fellow-travelers can do away with all personal freedoms and have those changes called "constitutional."

Think this post is, itself, alarmist? Well, no more than blaming the 15 or 20 million LGBTs, 90% of whom remain politically silent, for the legislation and appropriations that give us wars, bombings, dronings, in 8 or 9 foreign nations simultaneously, and military bases in-- what?-- 129 foreign nations. Even the so-called "liberals" cheerfully "go along to get along" as one former (late) Speaker of the House once described the political process in Congress.

There are NO actual leftists in the House or Senate. Sen. Feingold was caused to die in suspicious circumstances. Rep. Kucinich was gerrymandered out of his seat. The Left is like the Dodo politically. They are extinct. There are no more. The Houses of Congress are (and have been since at least the Clinton Administrations) Right-wing bodies.

The "bipartisan" Commission for Presidential Debates escorted legitimate ticket-holder Ralph Nader from the debate hall with security guards in 2000. There are no alternatives to REPUBLICRAT rule. The Republicrats have carefully enacted statutes at the State and Federal levels to ensure that. Citizens United and McKutcheon have made damn sure that only the Ownership Class can have financial control over the election process.

I vote for no higher offices than Sheriff, County Judge, Coroner, Mayor, and School Committee. At least those officials have some personal responsibility to me and my neighbors. Congress, and the executive branch, have none whatsoever. Do you delude yourself that they do? You poor saps. You may have nominally elected your representatives. But when's the last time you actually had jack-diddly input into what these Reps DO, who they bomb, what they enact? Ell Oh Freaking Ell.

My name is William Perkins Homans the third, but probably more people know me as the bluesman (and artist) Watermelon Slim.

I've been in the fight against war, fascism, injustice and inhumanity for 47 years. I was at MayDay, 1971, (more...)
