"Well," said the Mad Hatter, "you're late to the party today."

"I was watching all the coverage of the Brussels tragedy on CNN." The White Rabbit glared at the Hatter. "All those poor people gone" But I bet you're going to tell me it's a false flag, right?"

"I'm not going to tell you anything," the Hatter said. "But I may ask some questions. And so should you."

Alice snorted. "What's the mystery? It's obvious it's all those icky refugees' fault. They should ship 'em all back to Sweden. You know they're up to no good by just looking at 'em. They can hide bombs in those scarfy things on their heads. Man, I'd never do that to my hair." She flicked a blond curl with a polished nail.

"My questions for you, Rabbit," continued the Mad Hatter, "are 'who benefits?', and why?"

The White Rabbit scratched his whiskers. "Well, ISIS, of course. Look at all the press they've been getting."

The Hatter nodded. "No such thing as bad press, eh?"

"No kidding. And, we're all running scared. Everybody's worried they could be next. The warren down the lane is actually thinking of hiring a lion to stand guard and protect us."

"Yes, that's a very wise decision," muttered the Hatter. "He'll keep a big eye on you for sure."

"It's worth giving up our privacy so we can sleep undisturbed," insisted the Rabbit.

The Hatter forced a smile. "Let me know how that works out for you then. Sounds pretty good for the lion cabal to me. But how does that benefit ISIS?"

The Rabbit frowned. "What do you mean? I don't understand."

A sigh. "Hypothetically. If I'm the leader of Germany, and I want to invade and annex Poland, wouldn't I just do that? Why would I go and attack New York?"

The Rabbit shrugged his shoulders. "I wouldn't. That'd get the Americans angry and they'd come after me."

The Hatter nodded. "Right. You've got a much better chance of conquering Poland without the US in the war. So wouldn't ISIS, assuming of course that they are really fundamentalist local nationalists eager to build a regional caliphate, think they'd have a better chance of taking over Syria or Iraq if they didn't poke the bear--or the eagle--and bring down upon themselves American or European wrath?"
