This piece just spewed out like some bad taste in the mouth, yet with an unmistakable clarity and the thought the US is the most dangerous political entity that ever existed.
It is also the most insidious, hiding behind the veneer of democracy, the Constitution and the rule of law trumpeting those virtues while simultaneously disregarding them with impunity.
And incredibly most of the people have bought into the charade still spouting, "we're the greatest, freest country in the world".
There's no need for SS storm troopers to track down internal dissidents as Hitler used against his people.
Instead there's the ever present NSA surveillance of all electronic communications, cell phones, texting, GPS devices, "back doors" in computers, street cameras, credit card transactions. Everything and everybody is under surveillance without cause, a clear violation of the 4th Amendment against illegal search and seizure.
Meanwhile those whistleblowers who exposed the illegal activities are hounded, denounced as traitors and branded as criminals, jailed in the case of Bradley Manning, forced into asylum like Edward Snowden in Russia, given sanctuary in the Ecuadorian embassy in London like Julian Assange or smeared and denounced like William Binney.
As for the MSM it is complicit in the government's machinations serving as triumphalist enabler to our illegal wars and occupations, torture and the killing of innocents in our endless global war on terrorism.
Our elections are carnivals, charades of distraction giving the false impression the people have a say in the outcome of who is elected. But it's all a mirage, certainly not in an electoral system captured by billionaires and corporate interests that pre-select the candidates, underwrites their campaigns and once elected do the bidding of those benefactors.
The laws and regulations, oversight and enforcement go to the benefit of the moneyed interests precluding ANY real reform that would benefit the people.
The recent "victory" by environmentalists whereby the Canadian owner of the Keystone XL pipeline asked for its permit be withdrawn in Nebraska is a temporary one as the company waits for Obama to give the go ahead or the next president who will undoubtedly approve a new permit, this so the dirtiest, foulest tar sands oil will flow from Canada to the Gulf coast refineries befouling yet further the catastrophe of an overstressed environment.
The same can be said of the Shell Oil company temporarily withdrawing drilling in the Arctic waiting presumably for the next president to expedite the process.
Most sad to this septuagenarian is the observation-and sometimes talking with-20 and 30 year olds obsessed with electronic devices before them madly texting away believing they are "connected" to those on the other end, yet "disconnected" to not only the immediate world around them, but the greater world where their government commits death and destruction in the name of the people. A rather perfect scenario-when you think about it- for the government to do as it pleases-which it does with impunity considering who is going to hold it accountable, people gazing into their cell phones?
Now this short piece is certainly not a compilation of all government wrongdoing-even though it's hard to ignore the obvious, infrastructure crumbling, real unemployment over 20%, jobs off-shoring, over a $trillion in college student loan debt, over a $trillion in defense spending each year, the middle class being decimated while the number of poor grows exponentially-but it serves to highlight the oppressive nature of this sinister monster within our midst's that the rest of the world sees rather clearly as the greatest threat to world peace.
Those on the other end of our illegal lethal wars and occupations know firsthand the malevolence we inflict upon them.
Domestically, of course, African Americans, Hispanics, Muslims, what's left of the indigenous peoples know the "enemy" that often kills with impunity as prosecutors and police, those supposedly serving and protecting the people, are most often exonerated and not held accountable for the crimes they commit.
Our over $20 trillion in national debt is unsustainable. The FED is a printing press of dollars no longer backed by a thriving, developing economy. These dollars are sold as treasury bonds to the Chinese, Japanese, Russian's and other countries holding our debt. We are greatest debtor country ever. Should these holders of $trillions of our debt call in their notes what would happen to our economy? I don't know. That's something for economists to answer.
