Wednesday night, President Obama is going to address the nation. He is going talk about his current strategy in Afghanistan and how many troops he is going to bring home. Some say it should be as small as a few thousand, while other dreamers say as many as ten thousand. He is being inundated by top military brass and conservative advisors to not give up on this war, much like Vietnam, in which we won all the battles but lost the war. It is time to leave.

No matter how many troops the president brings home, it seems that Afghan President  Karzai is going to disagree.  He has insulted this country many times in the last few years and it has gotten worse over the last few months. According to Karzai, Americans are "here for their own purposes, for their own goals, and they're using our soil for that". Somebody should fill Karzai in. There is nothing of value in Afghanistan for Americans to want, period. It is time to leave.

A few weeks ago he said this."If NATO does not stop air strikes on Afghan homes, their presence in Afghanistan will be considered that of an occupying force. History has shown how Afghans deal with occupiers". Occupiers? This nation has poured American blood and American treasure into Afghanistan to try and give these people a life other than living in the dark ages under the Taliban. It is time to leave.

U.S. Ambassador Karl Eisenberry, who will soon be leaving his post, can finally say what's on his mind and he said it well recently. He said if Karzai persists in trashing the United States, he will succeed in only convincing more and more Americans to say "Enough. Lets get out of Karzai's hell hole as quickly as possible. Indeed, if Americans were to hear Karzai's ingratitude as often as they were exposed to Anthony Weiner's private parts, U.S. troops would be on their way out of Afghanistan next week". It is time to leave.

After 10 years, if you do not have the respect of at least half of the population, then it's time to get the hell out. We have gotten rid of Bin Laden and most of their leaders and Al Qaeda is a shell of its former self, at least in Afghanistan. There are very few Americans that will argue the point except politicians and military men. It is time to leave.

"A few outrageously manipulated polls notwithstanding, Afghans obviously see the coalition as an occupying force. With war crimes committed by some rogue U.S. troops and vile pictures of American servicemen smiling near the bodies of dead civilians still circulating widely via mobile phone--even to the most remote Afghan villages--the credibility of the coalition is destroyed". It is time to leave.

A majority of Americans want us out. While we are spending ten billion dollars a month there, we have conservative congressmen and others who want to do away with Medicare and Social Security in this country to cut the deficit. Ask Americans which is more important? Their health care and their small pension from Social Security they have worked for and paid for all their lives, or keeping the Afghans from killing each other and I doubt the answer would surprise anyone. It is time to leave.

Eisenberry went on to point out, in his strongest terms yet, this: "When Americans, who are serving in your country at great cost--in terms of lives and treasure--hear themselves compared with occupiers, told that they are only here to advance their own interest, and likened to the brutal enemies of the Afghan people... they are filled with confusion and grow weary of our effort here." When a soldier is spit at and cussed by the population, it is time to leave.

He went on to say " "At the point your leaders believe that we are doing more harm than good, when we reach a point that we feel our soldiers and civilians are being asked to sacrifice without a just cause, and our generous aid programs dismissed as totally ineffective and the source of all corruption...  especially at a time our economy is suffering and our needs are not being met, the American people will ask for our forces to come home."  This nation cannot continue to be the worlds policeman. NATO is a joke and can't even arm the their own troops fighting in Libya. It is time to leave.

It was reported we  "misplaced" almost seven billion dollars. Gone. Puff! Airplanes full of crisp new hundred dollar bills bound for Afghanistan, gone. The money we have sank into that hellhole has been stolen and used to kill our own troops. No one has any idea how the programs, that are supposed to build up our relationship with the Afghans, even work. This is a society that has used bribery as a way to get things done for thousands of years. If our government thinks we can change these people and their tribal mentality in ten years, we are sadly mistaken. It is time to leave!
