Awaken Oil Consumers!

There is no person, agency, government or corporation that has more power to demand instant repair of the Gulf Coast carnage than you, the consumer.

British Petroleum, who is directly responsible for safeguards and the environmental impact of oil extraction has not prepared adequately for a catastrophe such that we are witnessing in the Gulf of Mexico.

The problem is now ours! You and I, the consumer, have the lever to exert pressure on BP and the governmental agencies responsible.

How? Simply stop going to the pumps at all BP service stations and those under their corporate umbrella. This includes BP, AMOCO, ARCO, AM/PM and Castrol Oil products. It is time for us to wake up and engage in this catastrophe. Money talks and we are the ones who pay their way.Embargoes do work! Embargoes generate action!

My grandchildren, my children, your grandchildren and children and myself request that we each put a plan of action together. In the next few days find an alternative fuel distributor if you use BP products and leave their pumps vacant! Help them consume the 5.5 billion dollar profits that came out of your pockets.

It is time for the consumer to demand and receive a certain level of responsibility from oil corporations and this will not only demand BP perform but also be a warning shot over the bow of other producers drilling off our sacred coasts profiting on our rescources!

We cannot let our environment be stressed to collapse! There are probably very few of us who have not enjoyed food products from the Gulf of Mexico. There are many of us that have experienced the beauty of our Gulf Coast.

The humanitarian impact on the Gulf Coast has been tremendous in the last five years. To kill the ecosystems of the Gulf and coastlines will increase toxic environments that will render habitability questionable.

I suggest and urge all of us to begin our embargo on BP, ARCO, AMOCO, AM/PM and Castol Oil on June 1, 2010. The embargo should last until the oil leak has stopped and a realistic cleanup plan is in action that does not include the toxic dispersant now being used.

Living in the Northwestern part of Washington I find time to write between work and other activities. I especially enjoy being an active participant in our local peace and justice organization as well as our local Veterans For Peace chapter. (more...)
