AN OPEN LETTER TO THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS Our current two party system gives people an “either or” voting option which is based positions of legalized dominance. The two major parties write the election rules to benefit themselves, and they are unlikely to ever vote to level the playing field for third parties. Because of this advantage neither party has to actually do what they promise the citizenry and are seldom held accountable. Both parties have severe problems that are keeping them from accomplishing anything of substance.The left has a problem focusing on a common message and has had to resort to wild statements, name calling and outlandish scare tactics to cover up the problem of the absence of a core belief. While the right wraps themselves in the flag, clutching a gun and a bible they are better at focusing on common themes. The Democrats have a lot of groups under one roof and can't afford to take a stand on any issue that may offend another core group. Here are but a few examples:Current core groups:Feminist – Rural small town people (Including but not exclusively farmers)Gays and Lesbians – Blue collar union membersAfrican Americans (Conservative religious doctrines) - Abortion rights activistsWealthy Liberals (Many are closet Industrialist) - Environmentalist Needing in order to win:Hispanics - Other Immigrants Middle Class voters - Young voters While they run on a middle of the road platform, they often vote with the Neoconservatives or fail to appease any one of their base group. It is not enough to run on a "Hate the Right" platform without giving the people a concrete set of your own goals and objectives. What they need is to take a stand on a platform that a majority of people can believe in. The Republicans give a clear set of objectives and goals that seem to justify their harsh criticism and generally have a clearer message than the Democrats. On the other hand the Republican has core groups in their base that can coexist with few conflicts. The Republicans run as conservatives who believe in freedom and liberty, and vow to reduce spending, reduce taxes and reduce the size of government. The American people feel the possibility of these goals being met is more likely in the hand of someone who at least promises it than someone who ridicules it. But the truth is that they do not do anything they promise to do, and often do the opposite. The fact is that they constantly make promises and consistently break their promises. While they always have an excuse, this still offensive to every one of their core voting block. I challenge the Democrats to define the platform they will run on. What does the party stand for? Does the party have a legislative priority list? How will you settle the differences in your core groups on the issues of the day? If these questions are answered then you may have a better chance than just using the strategy of "If you don't vote for us then they will get in." I challenge the Republicans to actually keep their promises. How can you run as a party that believes in God and yet break your promises? If principles are more important that power then why did the party cover for criminals and deviants? Why should the American people support a party on principals and beliefs, if that party never keeps its word anyway? The citizens will simply not support the lesser of two evils forever.

Remember that the Third Parties are waiting in the wings and are getting stronger and more organized every year. Sooner or later the people will realize just how much power they actually have. They will one day come to realize that the lesser of two evils is still and evil.
