Health Care Reform The Fight Isn't Over!
As the President's Day Congressional recess begins, we still don't know when or if Congress will agree to move forward on health care reform. But AARP is committed to making sure our members and their families get the health care system they need and deserve. We will not stop until a health reform bill is passed that:
--Protects guaranteed Medicare benefits
--Closes the "doughnut hole" in Medicare prescription drug coverage
--Stops insurance companies from denying anyone affordable coverage based on their age or pre-existing condition
--Increases access to long-term care and community-based services
Congress is still working on the issue and AARP won't go away until the job is done right. Here are a few things you can do to ensure that Congress makes health care reform a reality this year:
--Call, visit, or email your Member of Congress
--Attend a town hall meeting or event where your Member of Congress is speaking
--Submit a letter to the editor to your local newspaper
--Talk to a community group about the need for health care reform
If you are interested in any of these activities or to find out more about how you can get involved in the fight for health care reform, please contact AARP Illinois at aarpil@aarp.org.
Sincerely,
Bob Gallo
