President Biden saying Russia would pay a severe price if it used chemical weapons in Ukraine
Yesterday while in Poland President Biden told American troops of the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division stationed in the country "you're going to see" Ukrainian civilians fighting Russian soldiers "when you're there".
In light of Biden's remarks shortly thereafter the White House had to counter with "The president has been clear we are not sending US troops to Ukraine and there is no change in that position.
Well we all make gaffs every once in a while but we're also not the president of the US talking to US troops in a European country bordering Ukraine.
Earlier in the week in a meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky along with the prime ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovenia Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski declared "NATO should deploy a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine while the EU should grant Kiev official candidate status".
Regardless of how critical one may consider Russia's military move into Ukraine a month ago moving NATO peacekeepers into Ukraine-no matter how benign "peacekeepers" may appear-it could very well be tantamount to starting world war III.
In fact Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said, "If NATO agrees with the Polish proposal to deploy peacekeepers to Ukraine the move could trigger a military conflict between the US-led bloc and Moscow". That statement by Lavrov is pretty clear.
Luckily Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson have both rejected Zelenski's plea for a no-fly zone over Ukraine saying that would expand the war with Russia while warning a confrontation between NATO and Russia could bring world war III.
