This morning the P5+1 finally reached a deal with Iran over its nuclear program along with the lifting of oil and economic sanctions on that country.
The Iran nuclear program and its potential for building a nuclear weapon was a canard and a US fabrication from the beginning, but the Iranian's wanted those dastardly sanctions lifted so they went the extra mile agreeing on restrictions that limits its nuclear stockpile for the next 15 years.
President Obama gave the obligatory the deal was "not built on trust-it is built on verification" and then said, "I will veto any legislation that prevents the successful implementation of the deal".
The next rigmarole will have the Congress taking 60 days to review the deal, then vote on it. The likelihood is the Republican fools and a few wayward Democrats will reject the deal with a simple majority. Then Obama would veto the legislation and then the Congress would need to muster a 2/3 super majority in both Houses to overturn the veto. That's unlikely to happen.
Of course Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the deal calling it a "mistake of historic proportions" and "create a "terrorist nuclear superpower". Thank you Bibi for your latest over the top bloviating, but it's getting a little tiresome.
To be sure Bibi and his new ally Saudi Arabia will have their lobbyists stalking the halls of Congress pressing legislators to reject the deal but Obama, in full legacy mode was desperate to get a deal with Iran so he could at least have some diplomatic effort that will look positive in the history books.
Even the American people, thoroughly indoctrinated with the demonization of Iran from the corporate MSM supports a deal with Iran.
Consider; all 17 national security agencies in 2007 concurred Iran ended pursuit of a nuclear weapon in 2003. Ayatollah Khamenei has said, "It is un-Islamic to build a nuclear weapon". The hysteria from the deranged right in America, their neo-con counterparts and of course Israeli paranoia over Iran's legal nuclear program was always beyond the pale, yet a deal with Iran seems finally reached.
Another thing, the US having created ISIS through its devious machinations needs Iran to curb the barbaric excesses of the Islamic State and its territorial advances in Iraq which could descend into Baghdad.
So the deal with Iran has concomitant potential for US/Iran agreement in other areas of concern to both countries.
Finally the deal with Iran will help the average Iranian who has felt the brunt of the economic sanctions with excessively high food and medication costs. So they will benefit directly once sanctions are lifted.
