As we watch the world as we know it hurtle toward an end, we are like alcoholics and drug addicts who are watching their lives crumble. We all must change inwardly, and quickly, evolving together, if we are to save life on planet earth.

We are addicted to material objects, such as cars, computers, medicines, as well as to material comfort- secure housing, temperature regulation, plenty of food and water, etc. Some of us have given up some things we consider essential for a good life, but it's very difficult to embrace complete simplicity.

Our addiction is to money, and what it can buy for us as consumers. Do we consider the source of our goods, and their cost to the global environment? Do we pay taxes that further the war machine that is contributing heavily to the damage, and which is also distracting us from the horrendous job of cleaning up?
