Personal transformation can and does have global effects. As we go, so goes the world, for the world is us. The revolution that will save the world is ultimately a personal one.

---Marianne Williamson- Nobel Peace Prize Winner

As we watch the world as we know it hurtle toward an end, we are like alcoholics and drug addicts who are watching their lives crumble. We all must change inwardly, and quickly, evolving together, if we are to save life on planet earth.

We are addicted to material objects, such as cars, computers, medicines, as well as to material comfort- secure housing, temperature regulation, plenty of food and water, etc. Some of us have given up some things we consider essential for a good life, but it's very difficult to embrace complete simplicity.

Our addiction is to money, and what it can buy for us as consumers. Do we consider the source of our goods, and their cost to the global environment? Do we pay taxes that further the war machine that is contributing heavily to the damage, and which is also distracting us from the horrendous job of cleaning up?

We all know by now that human materialism is the basic cause of the imbalance with nature that is leading to global warming, nuclear pollution, and the Sixth Great Extinction.

We try to reduce our individual footprint- turn vegetarian, turn out lights, switch . to bicycles. Our efforts seem useless. How can we change rapidly enough and cleanly enough to make a difference?
