Former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson accepted the presidential nomination of the Justice Party. He stressed the urgency of ending corruption in America , and getting us back to the principles our country is supposed to be about.

"If people in the Arab world were able to organize at the grass roots [as they have done] and overthrow at the risk of their lives the dictatorships in their countries, we can overthrow the dictatorship of corrupting money on our government."

In his roughly twenty minute speech, Rocky claimed, "Wilder things have happened. My view is we absolutely have to do this as a nation and even if we lose, we can have an enormous impact on the future of this country." Anderson elaborated on this point, and how third party candidates have changed the playing field in the past.

Agreeing that odds are against third party candidates, he believes the country is anxious for change and a system that evenly applies the rule of law and heeds the wisdom real science brings. He said the Justice Party vision could well shock the system and alter our nation's priorities.

The Justice Party is on the ballot in Mississippi, a red state, and is now gathering the 2,000 signatures needed to get on the ballot in Utah.  Anderson announced that there are ways to get on the ballot in California, claiming that his campaign has been working with leading experts on that topic.

Rock y accused President Obama of lying during his presidential campaign, ignoring war crimes and giving a free pass to Wall Street criminals. He criticized Republican Mitt Romney for having no core beliefs, but rather blowing with the most favorable political wind.

If Anderson is elected, he promised to work fiercely to reform the justice system, invest in education, create positive and productive immigration reform, give high regard to human and civil rights everywhere, fix the broken military-industrial complex, protect our air and water, take steps to prevent further climate change, and put the skids on wars of aggression.

"A major third-party challenge in this race, speaking straight to the American people can make all the difference, regardless of the result on Election Day," the presidential candidate noted. He spoke in terms Americans can indeed understand, and received much applause and many standing ovations. He cited Thomas Freidman on the benefits of a bona fide third party and the issues they bring to light. He shared research with numbers showing that Americans are craving a third party. He elaborated on present Republican-Democrat duopoly, and said the time is now for a third party change.

Daniel Geery, a former teacher who brought his 3-year-old grandson to the event, was one of those ready for an alternative.

"We're down to, not the lesser of two evils anymore, but just evil," said Geery, who agreed with Anderson's positions, which he says have enormous potential to change the world for the better in relatively short time.  "Anyone who doesn't get what Rocky is and has been saying simply has not been paying attention, which is most unfortunate for all of us."

"I think there is a growing disenchantment with the Democrats and Republicans," announced Gabe Scalise, a University student. "I don't see why a lot of people wouldn't share the views he described. It would bring equality to a lot of people."

In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly (more...)
