We Pre-WWII babies, the Abbreviated Generation, came into middle age just in time for the beginning of the great American austerity program, which really began with the re-election of Richard Nixon. Now, we are all facing perhaps even a worse fate. But, let us begin at the great turning point.
Would McGovern have been elected and successfully ended the Vietnam War, things may have improved for Americans from this point:
