A Few Words of Caution

As an 80-year-old political scientist born under Mussolini, following a deep insight by Stephen Dinan, allow me to touch on two points: We must defeat Donald Trump, the bully, for his own good and the good of the nation. We must elect Hillary Clinton for steady progress toward our ideals.

Donald Trump is like Mussolini. His own ends justify his means. An impressive New York Times report on the inside of Trump campaign has just revealed that "Aides to Mr. Trump have finally wrested away the Twitter account that he used to colorfully -- and often counterproductively -- savage his rivals. But offline, Mr. Trump still privately muses about all the ways he will punish his enemies after Election Day, including a threat to fund a 'super PAC' with vengeance as its core mission."

Can you imagine the wreckage he will cause, if he wins?

Look at the ruins Mussolini--and Hitler--left behind; look at their own sad end. Do we wish this fate on Donald Trump? He is still our beloved "The Donald," after all.

As any bully, Mr. Trump is asking to be stopped now.

Only Hillary Clinton can stop Donald Trump.

And, of course, she cannot do it alone. She needs our help. She needs our vote.

Under normal circumstances, that would be the most likely outcome. With her entire career, we would clearly see, she has earned out vote.

But these are turbulent years. Both political parties have betrayed the expectations of the voters. The working of economic systems automatically favors a transferal of financial resources from the poor and the middle classes to the rich. Even the language of economics favors such outcome.

Levels of economic inequality are intolerable.

Donald Trump, the tycoon, will not be interested in changing this outcome.

Hillary Clinton, the daughter of the middle class, will be eager to redress the scales. That is what she has done all her life.

The question remains. Why is she so misunderstood? The reason is clear. She marches to a new drummer in politics: she is trying to make the impossible possible. To do this she has forever been organizing the community around positions of mutual love and respect.

These are not high standing features in today's culture. Do you remember the snickers at her adoption of the African wisdom that "It takes a village to raise a child"?

That is the point. We must change our culture: From too many institutions fostering the bully in our society, the media, the religious institutions, the political institutions must undergo themselves a paradigm shift. From might makes right, we must strive to learn and to practice the maxim that love makes right.

Secretary Clinton is constantly on point. We must work TOGETHER as a community is her slogan. Benjamin Franklin knew it well: "We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately."
