News from Ditch Mitch but first the video of Mitch's speech on the Senate Floor.

[McConnell facetiously and repugnantly rips Green New Deal price tag, with his characteristic aplomb: cheaper to buy every American a Ferrari... Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tried out a few zingers during opening remarks on the Senate floor Wednesday morning, panning the price tag of the Green; I personally just don't get it....to start a good program could be done on a smaller scale, if indeed the economics are as absurd or as impossible as Senator McConnell impugns!]

This week, Mitch McConnell published an op-ed in the Louisville Courier Journal about how he plans to bring the Green New Deal up for a vote in the Senate (even though he plans to vote against it), because he wants to force Senate Democrats to say on the record if they support it.

In his op-ed, McConnell rails against the Green New Deal proposal, repeatedly calling it "socialism" and falsely claiming that every American family would have to pay $65,000 every year for the next decade in order to pay for it.

We get it. You don't like the Green New Deal, Mitch. You think it's too "extreme," and you're hoping it use it as a political weapon against moderate Democrats. But what do you like, Mitch? What do you support? What do you propose to address climate change? Do you even agree that climate change is real?

During his last reelection campaign, when local reporters asked Mitch if he believed that climate change was an existential threat, he insisted that he couldn't know if it's real because he's "not a scientist."

But Mitch's denial of science shouldn't be surprising. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Mitch McConnell has taken over $4.4 million in direct campaign contributions from the oil, gas, coal, and fossil fuel industries. And that doesn't even include what they've given to his Super PACs.

So if Mitch McConnell wants to talk about climate change, then let's talk about it. But let's start with a few simple questions: Do you believe that climate change is real, Mitch? And if so, it's not enough just to say what you're against. That's not leadership. What is your plan to address climate change?

Those aren't just rhetorical questions. We'd actually like to know. We're asking if you can help us in demanding an answer from Mitch.

Will you click here right now to go to Mitch McConnell's Facebook page and join us in asking: "Do you even agree that climate change is REAL, Mitch? And if you don't support the Green New Deal, then what DO you support?"

And if you're on Twitter, you can click here to tweet directly at Mitch McConnell to ask!

Mitch McConnell may think that climate change is just another political issue he can use to win by screaming "socialism" and denying that it even exists. But it is undeniably a very real and existential threat, and clearly Mitch McConnell doesn't take it seriously.

That's why, together, we're building a grassroots movement that is going to finally hold Mitch McConnell accountable and defeat him once and for all when he's up for reelection in 2020.

Thank you for speaking out with us,

The Ditch Mitch Fund
