The crowd joyed in Joe Biden's words in Pueblo, Colorado today October 22nd.
He harassed John McCain as "No maverick at all...but just a George Bush sidekick!"
And for my part, I can only agree and add, "Yes! In fact we've had way too much of the side-slickety ways of Republican administrations! Teflon presidencies have proven rusty, battered and sharp to the American people's touch.
We need to be taken by the hand in a firm and loving grip again!
Just as Joe exhorted, it's time for Americans to "Get back up, and go to work!" - in every sense.
The economy has to be greened, and only the re-establishment of the middle class in the security of new employment can accomplish this. Those promised jobs can derive from devotion to new energy production, with greenbacks for the average American pocket, and greenery anew in our forests.
How else can we get "Back up on your, feet, champs," as Joe put it to us, in imitation of his father?
The politics of fear, and that of procrastination - "Let's wait and see" as per George Bush and Republicans before him - have got to go!
Indeed, let's get back in the game, fellow citizens!
Back to jobs, to grade and middle and high schools; back to college; back from Afghan and Iraq, with GI benefits, training, and health care awaiting every veteran.
When General Colin Powell endorsed senator Obama it was tantamount to a political, Papal Encyclical. Therein lay the truth that Barack is ready to step into the shoes of Clinton, Carter, and Kenddy before him, and up the White House steps to sit behind the desk in the oval office. That chair has been too long vacant, or might as well have been, for the lack of direction, hasty invasions, and, in effect, "mailing in" the job of President every day.
The current George Bush is a lame duck. As Joe pointed out, he "looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like one." Ergo: he's just a damn web-footed creep.
No big surprise to me.
George has been plenty slick and sick in his muddy and muddling way. It doesn't take a nuclear scientist to know that "nuke-ue-lar" weapons and energy can't make up for other fuel sources and an adequate foreign relations policy to regain our allies who've become unrequited lovers of the American dream.
So, at least now a new message is being telegraphed to everyone in this country - simulcast, as it were, to the American public: It's time not to just say, but do what's right and just in every facet of life.
Atrocities may at last come to an end. Civil liberties can be restored where they have been deprived and besmirched by foreign policy, torture by Arab allies in lieu of ourselves, Abu Graeb, Guantanamo, and the Patriot Act.
