James Marion Sims was a brutal racist. He's known as the father of modern gynecology. But this was from him operating on the vaginas of enslaved Black women without anesthesia. When he operated on white women he gave them anesthesia. He was a slave owner as well. This man's statue does not belong in Central Park.
