Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett won the Democratic nomination Tuesday in Wisconsin's gubernatorial recall election, setting up a rematch with Gov. Scott Walker.
With 27 percent of precincts reporting, the Associated Press called the Democratic primary for Barrett, with him leading former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk 54 percent to 38 percent. "We need a governor who will end the civil war and put Wisconsin first. It's time to fix Wisconsin and move our state forward," Barrett said in a statement. Labor groups lined up behind Falk during the primary campaign. But party officials viewed Barrett, who was a late entry to the race, as the more formidable choice to take on Walker.
