|Former US vice president Dick Cheney has had a heart transplant and is recovering in hospital. He was the driving force on President Bush's 'war on terror' in the wake of the September 11 attacks, which included the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. He suffered his first heart attack aged 37 and had quadruple bypass surgery in 1988, and was fitted with a pacemaker in 2001.
