The necessity for complete transparency of voting systems and for a means by which they can be shown to be as accurate as they claim is, now, unarguable. Should the companies in this business refuse, the state may have no alternative to meet Federal mandates than to do it itself.
And as for Diebold, they should not be given a free ride because a Secretary of State can't stand up for the rights of Californians to feel secure that what they do in the voting booth will be counted fairly and accurately. |
