"Lucking Out Inside the Beltway" is not just an editorial, it is an insight into why we are at great risk. It's shameful that the House and its ethics committee continue to duck the pay-to-play implications of their relentless fund-raisers. Minimum contributions of $5,000 were solicited for re-electing the freshmen even though they barely have records. The campaign manager for one newcomer, Representative Vicky Hartzler of Missouri, described the fund-raiser as "an opportunity to be further educated about military issues." Not hardly. Ethical issues are patently the heart of the matter. It's Financial barons and entities, with interests which have tons of cash, ply freshmen legislators-- so that they can continue to control the legislation and thus the entire economy. |
