Joel Block, a retired attorney who attended the CA State Democratic Party Convention as a proxy delegate, describes the variety of ways in which the party broke its own rules in selecting the next Chair of the Party. The alleged victory of the establishment candidate, Eric Bauman, was announced by a tweet from candidate Bauman himself ("I won.") No official body ever informed the assembled delegates of the final vote count, and the delegates were never given the opportunity to approve the election results, as required by party rules. Since Bauman's grassroots opponent, Kimberly Ellis, had miraculously managed to unite both Bernie and Hillary supporters behind her campaign, and was perceived by many to easily be the projected winner, Ellis is calling for an independent audit. Please contact local and state CA Dem leaders if you agree an audit is necessary.
