Nick Little, Center for Inquiry's VP and Counsel: “Walmart sells homeopathics beside real medicines under the same signs. Website searches for flu remedies or infant's teething products yield pages of homeopathic junk products. It’s a betrayal of customers’ trust, an abuse of Walmart’s titanic retail power.”
Walmart: “We want to be the most trusted retailer; we look to our suppliers to provide products that meet all labeling laws. Our Equate label homeopathic products include information directly stating that the claims are not based on accepted medical evidence.”
FTC declared that marketing of homeopathic products is permissible if consumers are made explicitly aware, “that 1) there is no scientific evidence that the product works, and 2) the product’s claims are based only on theories of homeopathy from the 1700s that are not accepted by modern medical experts.”
