Stopping the supply of safe drinking water and burning wheat fields to create more hunger violate the most basic tenets of decency and morality. 

With supreme hypocrisy, the Western countries' foreign policy establishments often complain about the decline in the "rule of law". In actuality, there are no greater violator(s) than the Western countries themselves.
