"In a direct challenge to the legitimacy of the Mueller investigation, Donald Trump announced on Friday that he’ll award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to 13 Russians charged by the Justice Department . This is the highest civilian award bestowed by this country, and recognizes people who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”A recipient does not have to be an American citizen to get the award. It is not known when the PMF awards ceremony for the 13 Kremlin cronies will be held, but it is not likely that any of the recipients will attend. Entering this country for any reason would lead to the immediate arrest of the Russian conspirators."
