“Trumpism” is as old as the nation.

Ten years have passed since my book “The New Jim Crow”...millions of people of color are in literal cages.

Prison population quintupled ... highest  incarceration rate in the world. A third of black men have  felony records ... discrimination in employment, housing, education and basic public benefits.  ...calling Mexicans criminals, rapists and bad people ... African nations shitholes; Baltimore disgusting and rat infested.

1980s and ’90s, Democratic and Republican politicians leaned heavily on the racial stereotypes of “crack heads,” “crack babies,” “superpredators” and “welfare queens”.

Obama escalated the mass detention and deportation ...bipartisan war on “drugs”; private prisons ...Trump's Muslim ban and the border wall.

We now have a president who openly embraces the rhetoric and the politics of white nationalism.
